1. Our commitment
Edgewise is a statistical research and analytics service for Australian users aged 18+. We are not a wagering service provider under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth), do not accept wagers, and do not offer inducements to bet. We take active steps to minimise gambling-related harm in line with the National Consumer Protection Framework (NCPF) for online wagering.
2. Harm-minimisation measures we apply
- Age verification gate on first visit. Users under 18 anywhere in Australia are blocked from the service.
- NCPF mandatory taglines displayed in our footer and inline tools, rotated daily.
- Direct links to BetStop (the Australian Government's National Self-Exclusion Register) and to Gambling Help Online on every page.
- No inducements. We do not offer sign-up bonuses, refer-a-friend bet credits, "risk-free" bets, or any inducement that depends on placing a wager.
- No bet placement. Edgewise is read-only research. We do not provide a path to place a bet from our interface, and we do not partner commercially with wagering operators in a way that drives bet volume.
- No personalised tipping. Outputs are probability estimates, not personalised advice. We display calibration data and historical accuracy so users can see when the model is wrong.
- Clear "research only" language on every analytics page.
- Easy cancellation. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time directly from the billing portal — no retention calls, no cooling-off friction.
3. Self-exclusion & account closure
If you want to stop using Edgewise for reasons related to gambling harm, you can:
- Register on the national BetStop register — this excludes you from all licensed Australian interactive wagering operators.
- Email support@edge-wise.org with the subject "Close my account — responsible gambling". We will close your account, cancel any active subscription on a pro-rata basis, and block re-registration with that email for a minimum of 12 months.
- Request a cooling-off period of 7, 30 or 90 days at any time via the same email address.
Self-exclusion requests are actioned within 1 business day and we do not require a reason.
4. Recognising harm
Common warning signs include:
- Spending more time or money on gambling than you intended.
- Chasing losses or borrowing money to bet.
- Hiding gambling from family, friends or partners.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or low when not gambling.
- Gambling interfering with work, sleep, or relationships.
If any of these apply, please reach out — help is free, confidential and available 24/7 anywhere in Australia.
5. Support services by state & territory
All numbers are free and confidential. The national number works from any Australian state or territory.
